FAZ (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), one of the major media in German, introduced Korean e-Sport and the World Cyber Games (WCG) through the special article issued on March 30th. The reporter of FAZ, Von Anne Schneppen, reported that Korean e-Sport leads worldwide e-Sport trend owing to Koreas advanced IT infra structure and popularity of unique PC Cafés, where young people can enjoy online games. She also said pro-gamers in Korea are extremely popular like a rock star and professional leagues based on StarCraft, the most popular game in Korea, are being held actively.

Schneppen reported computer gaming is no longer just a hobby but is becoming a digital culture which people communicate online with others beyond the language, the race, and the nationality. Won-suk Oh, the vice president of International Cyber Marketing, the global organizer of the World Cyber Games, said through the interview that Its a revolution. Global corporations see the possibility of e-Sport as a new marketing tool, by sponsoring e-Sport festival like WCG.
Global corporations such as Samsung Electronics and Microsoft support WCG and use WCG as an exhibition opportunity displaying their new mobile phones, monitors, MP3 players, and so forth. Besides, more global companies are eager to participate WCG as a sponsor because of their marketing targets exactly meet with WCG.
The WCG, started in 2001 with 17 participating countries, now has 70 participating countries and WCG 2008 Grand Final will be held in Cologne, Germany.
